AP CM Naidu Pays Tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram on 118th Birth Anniversary

Amaravati, Apr 5 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday paid tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 118th birth anniversary.

The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to Jagjivan Ram’s portrait at the camp office, along with Minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and other leaders, including Kancherla Srikanth, Undavalli Sridevi, Pillimanikyala Rao and Balakotayya.

On the occasion, Naidu lauded the services rendered by Jagjivan Ram to the nation, particularly highlighting his role in modernising agriculture and steering India through a severe food crisis.

He described Jagjivan Ram as a visionary leader who implemented several key reforms, including the Industrial Disputes Act, minimum wages legislation and provident fund schemes.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is functioning in line with Jagjivan Ram’s ideals and noted that the classification within Scheduled Castes was undertaken to ensure equitable opportunities for all sub-castes.

Emphasising that justice for Dalits remains a core policy of the Telugu Desam Party, he said the party has consistently worked towards the upliftment of Scheduled Castes.

Naidu also recalled Jagjivan Ram’s close association with N. T. Rama Rao and his extensive tours across the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.

He noted that a statue of Jagjivan Ram was installed in Hyderabad as a mark of tribute, describing it as a significant gesture of recognition.

The Chief Minister added that the classification among Scheduled Castes has helped ensure justice for all sections and reiterated that the coalition government is committed to providing equal justice to all sub-castes within SC communities.

He concluded by affirming that the people’s government remains dedicated to the empowerment and welfare of Dalits.
