Amaravati, Mar 17 (TNT):Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the state has sufficient LPG reserves for the next 15 days and assured people there is no need for concern over supply.
Reviewing LPG stocks and distribution at the Secretariat here, Naidu said the state currently has about 14,000 metric tonnes of LPG, with an additional 24,000 metric tonnes available at Visakhapatnam.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure smooth distribution of gas cylinders and prevent diversion to the black market by implementing measures such as e-KYC and OTP-based verification.
He also asked gas companies to ramp up production in the short term and improve supply efficiency to avoid inconvenience to consumers.
Naidu called for exploring alternative options, including increasing the availability of induction stoves, and reviewed the expansion of piped gas connections as a long-term solution.
He instructed officials to accelerate the rollout of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network and promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG).
Officials informed that natural gas is currently being supplied through CGD networks by various agencies, supported by 198 CNG stations and infrastructure catering to around 1.68 lakh domestic connections.
The Chief Minister also directed preparation of an action plan to expand piped gas supply across the state and emphasised utilisation of locally produced natural gas.
During the meeting, he reviewed other governance initiatives, including the proposed AP One app for citizen services, use of data systems for planning, and measures to tackle summer-related challenges such as drinking water supply and heatwaves.
He also called for strict action on crimes against women and drug control.
