Hyderabad, Feb 28 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday evening said the Telangana Government would stand by the families of those who died in Medina bus tragedy in Saudi Arabia on November 17, 2025 and extend all possible assistance to them.
Addressing a meeting with the bereaved families at the Secretariat here, Reddy said the People’s Government would support them in difficult times.
The Chief Minister recalled that a delegation led by Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Azharuddin was deputed to Medina soon after the accident. The State government also facilitated the travel of family members to Saudi Arabia.
With the coordination of the Indian Consulate and the Saudi authorities, the last rites of the deceased were performed at Jannatul Baqi, he said.
Noting that State governments usually do not pay compensation for deaths occurring abroad, Revanth Reddy said the Telangana Government had extended financial assistance on humanitarian grounds.
He handed over cheques of Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of 44 deceased victims and Rs. 3 lakh each to those seriously injured in the accident.
Among those who present at the meeting were Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Government Advisor Shabbir Ali, Haj Committee Chairman Khusro Pasha, Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGMREIS) Vice Chairman Fahim Qureshi, State Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Obedullah Kotwal, and other officials.
