Cong govt failed tribals, making empty poll promises: Telangana BJP chief

Hyderabad, Oct 22 (TNT) :Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday hit out at the Congress government in the state, accusing it of neglecting tribal welfare and demanding immediate resolution of long-pending issues in agency areas, particularly the conferment of rights over Podu lands.
Addressing party workers after paying floral tributes on the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Komaram Bheem at the state party headquarters here, Rao alleged that the ruling party was offering mere lip service during election cycles while failing to deliver on the ground.
The commemorative programme was attended by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy alongside party MPs, MLAs, and senior office bearers, who paid homage chanting slogans including “Johar Komaram Bheem” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
Rao recalled the historic resistance led by Gond leader Komaram Bheem against the tyrannical Nizam regime under the rallying cry of “Jal, Jungle, Zameen” (Water, Forest, Land) for tribal autonomy and land rights.
He noted that Bheem’s sacrifices continue to inspire the people of Telangana and remain integral to the state’s cultural and political identity.
Lashing out at the current administration, the state BJP chief alleged that basic civic amenities and infrastructure across tribal tracts remain severely deficient.
He pointed to crumbling roads, dilapidated schools, and an acute shortage of healthcare facilities in agency pockets, while also flagging ongoing grievances concerning the roster system in Scheduled Tribe (ST) job reservations.
