AP CM Naidu Targets YSRCP Over BC Reservations, Assures Community of TDP Support
Addressing the ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ public meeting at Narsingolu in Kondapi constituency, Naidu said BCs were the backbone of the TDP and asserted that the party would work for their social, economic and political advancement.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s decision on BC reservations, the Chief Minister alleged that the opposition had obstructed the implementation of the earlier 34 per cent quota, leading to its reduction to 24 per cent and affecting BC candidates.
He also alleged that the opposition was approaching courts to delay local body elections under the pretext of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Turning to land administration, Naidu criticised the previous government over alleged irregularities, encroachments and disputes.
He said the coalition government had repealed the Land Titling Act and removed 16.48 lakh acres from the 22A prohibited properties list since assuming office.
The government had also resolved disputes involving around 41,000 acres in Kangundi, Amalapuram and Shettipalli, while issues relating to Garbha Kandrika lands in four mandals of Prakasam district were being addressed, he said.
Naidu distributed pattadar passbooks to farmers and said 40.58 lakh passbooks had been issued across the State. More than four lakh passbooks bearing the Raja Mudra had been distributed in 790 villages during October, he added.
In a development announcement, the Chief Minister said the Pothula Chenchayya–Paleru Reservoir project would be completed within two years at a cost of ₹166.40 crore.
The project is expected to provide irrigation to 9,500 acres and drinking water to 35,000 people across 15 villages.
He also laid foundation stones for a road at Vemurupadu in Ponnaluru mandal and a bridge across the Paleru River, with the works estimated to cost ₹28 crore.
Naidu said the government would complete the second phase of the Veligonda project to improve irrigation and drinking water supply in the erstwhile Prakasam district.
It was also working to develop Prakasam and Rayalaseema as horticulture hubs and had accelerated the Ramayapatnam Port project to promote regional growth.
The Chief Minister said the coalition government was committed to welfare, development and good governance while ensuring balanced development across regions.
