Bharti Airtel Foundation, CK-12 lanch AI-Integraed ‘TheTeacherApp’ for 2 lakh Educators

New Delhi, Feb 23 (TNT): In a major push to accelerate AI adoption in India’s education ecosystem, the Bharti Airtel Foundation, a  philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has partnered with the CK-12 Foundation to integrate over 45 AI-enabled teaching tools into ‘TheTeacherApp’, benefiting more than two lakh educators across the country.

The enhanced version of TheTeacherApp, a free-for-life digital learning platform, is designed to support teachers across the entire K–12 school system, the Foundation said in a release here on Monday.

The AI-enabled tools aim to address real classroom needs by helping teachers save preparation time, enrich instruction, and cater to diverse learning requirements with contextual, safe and curriculum-aligned resources.

Anchored in the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, the initiative marks a transition from digital access to meaningful digital engagement for teachers.

While the app has traditionally offered professional development and learning resources, the AI integration embeds assistive tools directly into teaching workflows, providing real-time, classroom-aligned support across subjects and grades.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the initiative reflects the transformative roadmap laid out by NEP 2020. “Teachers need quality resources that meet the diverse needs of every learner at every grade level, and today AI is no longer a luxury,   it is a necessity.

This initiative marks a transformative step in leveraging technology to empower our educators,” he said, recalling his presence at the launch of TheTeacherApp in 2024.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and Co-Chairman of the Bharti Airtel Foundation, noted that within 15 months of its launch, the App has engaged over two lakh educators with hundreds of hours of learning content, reflecting strong demand for continuous professional growth.

The AI collaboration, he said, expands the teacher’s toolkit, enabling educators to spend more time inspiring students and less time on preparation.

Neeru Khosla, Co-Founder and Executive Director of CK-12 Foundation, emphasized that AI in education is no longer optional.

She said the partnership combines CK-12’s adaptive technology with TheTeacherApp’s national reach to provide meaningful, future-ready classroom support.

Developed on two decades of grassroots insights from the Satya Bharti Schools initiative, the App has evolved into a national digital ecosystem offering over 2,500 hours of training content, including modules on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), digital literacy, child safety, and collaborative teacher engagement.

The platform also works in partnership with institutions such as NITI Aayog to deliver scalable public value.

Through the collaboration, Bharti Airtel Foundation and CK-12, a California-based non-profit organization, aim to strengthen teaching quality and place educators at the centre of India’s education journey, ensuring technology supports the long-term goal of inclusive and future-ready learning.
