Telangana airports, Bhavan to showcase state’s rich heritage: CM
Hyderabad, Sept 22 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to incorporate the state’s rich cultural heritage and traditional architectural styles in the upcoming airports at Warangal and Adilabad and the Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.
Reviewing the construction and designs of the three projects here, the Chief Minister instructed officials to study the architectural and sculptural styles of the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, Ramappa Temple and Pillalamarri Temple and reflect their features in the proposed constructions.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on various logistical issues at the airport sites, including shifting of power lines, diversion of streams and roads, and relocation of BSNL lines and drinking water pipelines.
Revanth directed officials to develop roads along the airport compound walls and connect them with nearby district, state and national highways.
He stressed the need for coordination among various departments to avoid delays and complications in executing the works.
The Energy, Roads and Buildings, Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation departments were directed to coordinate with BSNL officials and ensure that all works are taken up simultaneously without disrupting the project.
The Chief Minister also called for comprehensive plans keeping in view both present and future requirements. Discussions were held on diversion of water bodies, shifting of tanks and constructing them within or near the airport premises to facilitate the diversion works.
He further directed officials to develop a wider road network connecting the proposed airports with major highways in the surrounding areas.
During the review of the designs, the Chief Minister suggested modifications to further incorporate Telangana’s culture, sculpture and traditional architectural elements into the airport structures and Telangana Bhavan.
R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, MPs Vem Narendar Reddy and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Government Whip Birla Ailaiah, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, CM’s Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal, Planning Department Secretary Dr Gaurav Uppal, R&B Special Secretary Gangadhar, Power Grid ED Doman Yadav, TG-NPDCL CMD Varun Reddy, Air Commodore Rahul Shukla, Aviation Director Bharat Reddy and Sthapathi Emani Shiva Nagireddy, among others, attended the meeting.
