Telangana CM puts Hyderabad administration on alert amid heavy rain

Hyderabad, Sept 22 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed the official machinery to remain on high alert following heavy rain in Hyderabad and asked civic authorities to take immediate measures to prevent waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

The Chief Minister instructed commissioners of the three municipal corporations in the Greater Hyderabad region, HYDRAA and police commissioners to work in coordination and continuously monitor the situation.

Civic authorities were directed to deploy personnel and machinery promptly in waterlogged areas and ensure that main roads, junctions and residential colonies remained free of stagnant water.

Revanth Reddy also directed the Energy Department to take measures to prevent power outages and asked the Traffic Police to take proactive steps to avoid congestion.

He called for special attention to low-lying areas and colonies vulnerable to flooding and directed officials to deploy teams to clear obstructions in drains and storm-water channels.

Rescue teams were asked to remain prepared for emergencies, while control rooms were instructed to maintain continuous vigilance.

The Chief Minister directed officials to remain available on the ground, monitor the situation and take all necessary measures to minimise inconvenience to the public.
