Financial constraints should not hinder students’ education: Telangana Governor
Hyderabad, Sept 22 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday said financial constraints should not come in the way of students pursuing education and called for continued support to meritorious students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Governor distributed scholarship cheques totalling Rs 5 lakh to 28 underprivileged students at a programme organised by the Mahamana Malaviya Mission, Hyderabad, under the Mahamana Shiksha Seva Prakalp at Lok Bhavan.
Addressing the gathering, Shukla said Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya regarded education as a powerful instrument for nation-building and his life demonstrated the importance of determination and perseverance in overcoming limitations.
He advised the students to view the scholarships as an opportunity to shape their lives and pursue their aspirations, and urged them to set clear goals and contribute to their families, society and the nation.
The Governor appreciated the educational and social service initiatives of the Mahamana Malaviya Mission and commended donors and organisers for supporting students.
He also urged the youth to remain vigilant against drug abuse, saying it could adversely affect individuals, families and society. He called upon young people to work collectively to address social challenges with the principle of “Nation First”.
Governor’s Special Chief Secretary M Dana Kishore, Mahamana Malaviya Mission President P C Jain, General Secretary Dr Veer Gopal Reddy, executive members, students, parents and donors attended the programme.
