Telangana BJP Prez Rao pays tributes to Sardar Patel, recalls Hyderabad integration
Hyderabad, Sept 17 (TNT): Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao on Thursday paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Saifabad on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day.
Rao, along with Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, paid tributes to Patel, recalling his role in the integration of Hyderabad with the Indian Union.
In a post on X, Rao said Operation Polo and the integration of Hyderabad with India remained an important chapter in history and credited Patel’s “vision and decisive leadership” with the liberation of Hyderabad from Nizam rule and its integration with the Indian Union.
He said the people of Telangana would remain indebted to Patel for his role in the liberation of Hyderabad.
Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana BJP office-bearers and other senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Rao unfurled the National Flag at his residence in Tarnaka to mark Hyderabad Liberation Day.
In another post on X, he recalled September 17, 1948, saying Hyderabad was integrated with India following Operation Polo after what he described as 13 months of “terror under the Nizam and Razakars”.
Rao said he unfurled the Tricolour at his residence in honour of the historic day.
