Hyd: ICFAI Law School concludes 11th N.J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition
Hyderabad, Sept 7 (TNT): The three-day N.J. Yasaswy Memorial 11th Moot Court Competition, 2026, organised by ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, concluded on Sunday at the ICFAI campus.
The competition was held from September 4 to 6, providing law students from across the country a platform to hone their advocacy, research and legal reasoning skills.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar and Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao, Judges of the High Court for the State of Telangana, as Guest of Honour and Chief Guest respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar spoke about the growing representation of women in the legal profession and said the progress should inspire young law students.
He urged students to work hard, remain committed to their goals and make meaningful contributions to the legal field.
He also highlighted the significance of Articles 14 and 19 of the Constitution of India and the Directive Principles of State Policy under Part IV in promoting equality, fundamental freedoms and social and economic justice.
Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao stressed the importance of gender equality and said law students today have greater opportunities for their overall development.
He expressed confidence in the future generation of advocates, legal academicians and judges and urged students to uphold honesty and integrity in the legal profession.
Quoting the maxim that a person approaching the court must come with “clean hands”, he underscored the importance of ethical conduct among legal practitioners.
The competition carried a total cash prize of ₹2 lakh.
Parul Institute of Law, Parul University emerged as the winners, while SVKM NMIMS, School of Law, Bengaluru, and New Law College, Bharathi Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune, secured the first and second runner-up positions respectively.
St Joseph College of Law won the Best Memorial award, while KIIT School of Law, KIIT University, secured the Best Speaker award.
The Best Researcher award went to Shiv Nadar School of Law, Shiv Nadar University.
Presidential remarks were delivered by Prof. Pujari Ravisekhararaju, Director, ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad. Prof. Vijender Kumar, Director General, Law School, Hyderabad, encouraged students to value the knowledge and skills gained through the competition and carry forward the spirit of excellence and continuous learning.
Ms. Sobha Rani Yasaswy, Chairperson, ICFAI Society, Dr. Sayan Das, Coordinator, Moot Court Society, ICFAI Law School, Dr. Sridevi D. Shet, faculty members and students attended the event.
The N.J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition is organised annually in honour of late N.J. Yasaswy, Founder, with the objective of fostering legal knowledge, research skills, leadership and camaraderie among law students across the country.
The 11th edition continued this tradition by providing young advocates an opportunity to sharpen their advocacy skills and develop professional excellence.
