Grand Varalakshmi Vratam Celebrated at Tiruchanur Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tirupati
Tirupati, Aug 21 (TNT): Varalakshmi Vratam was celebrated with religious fervour at Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanur, about 3 KMs from here on Friday, with a large number of women devotees participating in the festivities.
TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra and Additional Executive Officer Ch Venkayya Chowdary participated in the celebrations.
Special rituals including Suprabhatam, Sahasranama Archana, Abhishekam, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Kalasha Sthapana and Lakshmi Sahasranama Archana were performed on the occasion.
Padmavathi Ammavaru was adorned in a golden saree and decorated with traditional flowers. The Vratam concluded with Maha Mangala Harathi after offering 12 varieties of Naivedyam.
Temple priests said Varalakshmi Vratam is traditionally observed by women seeking prosperity, health, family well-being, good progeny and long marital life. Performing the ritual in the presence of Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru is considered especially auspicious.
TTD JEO Dr A Sharath said special arrangements were made for the devotees participating in the Vratam.
Facilities including separate queues, Annaprasadam, drinking water, buttermilk and prasadam were provided. The programme was also telecast live through SVBC.
The temple and Vratam Mandapam were decorated by the TTD Gardens Department with nearly three tonnes of traditional flowers and 30,000 cut flowers of 14 varieties.
Gaja Lakshmi, Airavatas and Ashtalakshmi idols were among the major attractions of the floral arrangements. Seven LED screens were installed at various locations for devotees to watch the celebrations.
Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru will take part in a Golden Chariot procession through the four Mada Streets at 6 pm and bless devotees.
TTD Board members, senior officials, temple staff and a large number of devotees participated in the celebrations.
