New Osmania, TIMS and Warangal hospitals to be ready by December 2027: Telangana CM

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that the new Osmania Hospital, TIMS hospitals at LB Nagar and Alwal, and the Warangal super-speciality hospital would be completed and ready to provide medical services by December 9, 2027.

Once the projects are completed, the state will have a total of 10,000 hospital beds, the Chief Minister said while addressing a meeting after inaugurating the Sanathnagar TIMS hospital here.

Revanth Reddy said a dedicated director would be appointed for each of the new hospitals to oversee their operations.

He also directed officials to provide necessary facilities for attendants of patients visiting the hospitals.

Emphasising the need to provide healthcare on par with corporate hospitals, the Chief Minister directed officials to offer incentives to super-speciality doctors willing to work additional hours in government hospitals.

He said the government had initiated measures to complete the TIMS hospitals at Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Alwal, besides the Warangal super-speciality hospital, after assuming office.

Revanth Reddy said the objective was to make corporate-standard healthcare accessible to the poor amid the rising cost of private medical treatment.

The Chief Minister said the state government had spent Rs 2,700 crore on the Aarogyasri scheme and released Rs 2,526 crore under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Together, Rs 5,226 crore had been spent on healthcare for the poor, while the government had spent Rs 21,800 crore on the Medical and Health Department during the last two years.

Criticising the previous BRS government, Revanth Reddy alleged that it failed to construct a new Osmania Hospital despite the existing facility remaining in a dilapidated condition for nearly a decade.

He alleged that the previous government had laid foundation stones for the TIMS and Warangal hospital projects but failed to complete them.

The Chief Minister also criticised the BRS leadership, alleging that it had focused on constructing farmhouses in areas including Erravalli, Janwada, Moinabad and Shankarpally while neglecting the health sector.

He said the government was according priority to healthcare and education along with agriculture and women’s welfare.

Revanth Reddy also said nursing students in Telangana would have opportunities to secure employment in countries such as Germany and Japan, as the government was working to create avenues for youth to find jobs abroad.
