
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Feb 16 (TNT): Bill Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation, visited the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat along with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday on his official visit to the state.
During the visit, Bill Gates reviewed how technology is being leveraged in governance through the RTGS platform. The Chief Minister explained how real-time governance mechanisms are enabling the state to deliver citizen services efficiently and monitor outcomes effectively.
Gates was briefed on key initiatives including the Data Lake architecture, AWARE 2.0 platform
, WhatsApp Governance, the Sanjeevani project, and the development of the capital city, Amaravati through power point presentation.
He examined presentations displayed on the RTGS video and was informed that the Data Lake integrates all government departments for seamless data-driven administration.
The Chief Minister explained that through the Data Lake and WhatsApp Governance systems, citizen services have been simplified and made more accessible.
He also highlighted that AWARE 2.0 enables real-time data collection and faster decision-making. Gates reviewed how public feedback on government schemes and policies is being gathered and how Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are used to regularly assess GSDP growth.
During the interaction, Bill Gates inquired about measures taken to secure property records.
Officials informed him that land records are being safeguarded using blockchain technology and enhanced transparency measures such as QR codes.
Gates appreciated the state’s tax collection processes, while the Chief Minister noted that GST implementation has significantly increased tax revenues nationwide.
He also sought details about the Sanjeevani project being implemented in Chittoor district with support from the Gates Foundation.
Gates asked how health data such as blood pressure and diabetes test results are recorded.
Officials explained that digital health records are maintained to track patients’ lifestyle and dietary habits, offering personalized guidance.
Expressing satisfaction with the implementation of the Sanjeevani project in Kuppam (Chittoor District), Gates remarked, “That’s nice.”
The Chief Minister added that artificial intelligence is being used to further enhance public health services, to which Gates responded, “Great.”
Gates also inquired about the Bio-design model for delivering healthcare services and emphasized that affordable diagnostic services would greatly benefit the poor.
He further sought details about the development of the people’s capital, Amaravati.
Appreciating the 30 percent Green and Blue master plan of the capital city, Gates described it as a commendable initiative.
After being briefed on the construction and development plans, he complimented the efforts, saying, “Great work.”
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh and other senior Ministers and officials concerned were also present.
