Telangana ACB Catches Grama Palana Officer Accepting Rs 5,000 bribe
Hyderabad, Aug. 7 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Grama Palana Officer (GPO) of Athmakur village in Metpalli mandal of Jagtial district while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 for extending an official favour.
The 37-year-old Maathe Rajesh , Grama Palana Officer of Athmakur village, was trapped by the ACB’s Karimnagar Unit at the GPO office after he allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant, the ACB said in a release here on Friday.
The accused allegedly sought the illegal gratification for submitting an enquiry report prepared by him regarding the correction of the complainant’s name in the patta passbook to the higher revenue authorities.
The ACB said the tainted bribe amount of ₹5,000 was recovered from the accused’s handbag. During the investigation, it was found that the accused had instructed the complainant to place the money in the bag.
The Bureau alleged that the officer abused his official position by demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
The accused was taken into custody and arrested.
He will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Karimnagar.
Further investigation is in progress.
