RS MP from Kakinada Seeks National Shiva Circuit Status for Pancharama Temples
Kakinada, Aug. 6 (TNT): Rajya Sabha member from Kakinada, Sana Sathish on Thursday urged the Centre to develop the Pancharama Kshetras in Andhra Pradesh as a National Shiva Circuit under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.
During a meeting with Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi, Sathish submitted a representation seeking the integration of the five historic Shiva temples—Amararama, Draksharama, Somarama, Kumararama and Ksheerarama—into a unified pilgrimage and tourism circuit.
The MP said the proposed circuit would promote spiritual tourism, preserve India’s cultural heritage, generate employment and boost the economy of the Godavari region.
He requested the Union Minister to direct the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Pancharama Shiva Circuit and include it under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 programme.
Sathish also sought coordination between the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for four-laning of key road stretches connecting the Pancharama temples, including the Amaravati-Draksharama, Samalkot-Draksharama and Palakollu-Bhimavaram corridors, to facilitate seamless pilgrimage.
He further requested Central assistance for creating modern tourism infrastructure, including interpretation centres, visitor amenities, parking facilities, digital guidance systems, digital documentation of the epigraphical heritage of Draksharama and conservation measures to preserve the archaeological and cultural significance of the temples.
