Telangana CM Pays Tribute to Gaddar on Death Anniversary

Hyderabad, Aug. 5 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday paid rich tributes to renowned people’s balladeer and Telangana ideologue Gaddar on the eve of his death anniversary, describing him as a visionary who dedicated his life to the cause of the oppressed and played a pivotal role in the Telangana statehood movement.

In a message, the Chief Minister said Gaddar kept the spirit of the Telangana movement alive through his songs and poetry, taking the aspirations of the people to every village during the second phase of the separate state agitation.

Recalling his personal association with the revolutionary poet, Revanth Reddy said that despite being born into a poor family and pursuing engineering education, Gaddar sacrificed a promising career to dedicate his life to the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.

The Chief Minister said Gaddar used his songs as a powerful medium to create social consciousness and fought throughout his life for the rights of the underprivileged, with the vision of ensuring food, shelter and security for all.

Describing him as the “Praja Yuddha Nauka”, Revanth Reddy said Gaddar remained steadfast in his ideology despite facing several hardships and challenges, and transformed his voice into a powerful instrument in the fight for people’s rights.

The Chief Minister said the State Government had instituted the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards in recognition of his contribution to literature, culture and society, and was officially observing both his birth and death anniversaries.

He said the government was committed to preserving Gaddar’s ideals and ensuring that his legacy is passed on to future generations.
