Police Conduct Anti-Drug Awareness Rally in Kakinada

Kakinada, Aug. 5 (TNT): Kakinada Port Police on Wednesday organised an anti-drug awareness rally to educate the public, particularly youth, about the dangers of drug abuse and narcotic substances.

The rally was conducted under the directions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav and Additional SP Dr. Mahanti Kishore Kumar, with the participation of a large number of local youth under the slogan “No to Drugs – Life is Dearer.”

Addressing the gathering at Dairy Farm Junction, Port Police Station Inspector P. Sunil Kumar said the use of drugs, ganja and other narcotic substances not only damages health but also destroys the future of individuals and their families.

He said drug abuse also contributes to an increase in crime and urged youngsters to stay away from such habits and focus on education, sports and other constructive activities.

The Inspector appealed to the public to immediately report any information relating to the sale or transportation of drugs by calling the toll-free helpline 1972 or the Dial 112 emergency service. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.

Stressing that building a drug-free society requires public participation, Sunil Kumar urged citizens to cooperate with the police in curbing the menace of narcotics.

The rally received an enthusiastic response, with a large number of local residents and youth taking part in the awareness campaign.
