35,000 participate in Hyderabad’s Pink Power Run 3.0
Hyderabad, Sept 27 (TNT): Around 35,000 people participated in the third edition of the Pink Power Run, organised jointly by Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL) and the Sudha Reddy Foundation at HMDA Grounds near Prasads IMAX on Sunday to promote breast cancer awareness, preventive healthcare and women’s empowerment.
The run was flagged off in the presence of Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand, MEIL Group Managing Director P.V. Krishna Reddy, Sudha Reddy Foundation founder Sudha Reddy, US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams and Olectra Greentech Vice-President V.V. Lakshminarayana.
The event featured four race categories — 21-km half marathon, 10-km, 5-km and 3-km runs — with participants from different age groups and backgrounds.
Elite runners from more than a dozen countries took part in the half marathon, while children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and neurodivergent participants highlighted the inclusive nature of the event.
Former Miss World Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Indian professional boxer Vijender Singh, actor Siddu Jonnalagadda and music composer S. Thaman were among the prominent personalities who attended the event.
Thaman also gave a live musical performance.
Runners from countries including the USA, the UK, the UAE, Ethiopia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Iceland, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya and Canada participated in the 21-km half marathon.
A notable participant was 47-year-old Ramabai Ranveer from Ambajogai in Maharashtra’s Beed district, who had earlier drawn attention for running 5 km barefoot to support her children’s education.
In the 21-km half marathon, Suneel Kumar won the men’s title, while Sonam emerged winner in the women’s category.
Harish Shareen and Vandana Patel secured first place in the men’s and women’s 10-km races, respectively. Luv Choudhary and Anjali won the men’s and women’s 5-km categories.
The organisers distributed cash prizes totalling Rs. 75 lakh to winners across the race categories, along with medals and trophies.
US Consul General Laura Williams participated in the 10-km run, while Sudha Reddy, P.V. Krishna Reddy and Opal Suchata took part in the 5-km and 10-km runs.
Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said the event would promote health awareness and encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles. She appreciated the organisers for bringing together a large number of people for the cause.
P.V. Krishna Reddy stressed the importance of regular exercise in maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases.
Sudha Reddy said the foundation was committed to organising the event and providing a meaningful experience for Hyderabad residents. She urged participants to carry the message of fitness and health awareness to their families, friends and communities.
Opal Suchata said she was honoured to participate in the event for the second consecutive year, noting that breast cancer awareness was a cause close to her heart.
Vijender Singh and Siddu Jonnalagadda also appreciated the initiative and its focus on women’s empowerment and public health.
The organisers said the response to the third edition reflected growing public engagement with fitness, preventive healthcare and breast cancer awareness.
