335 SCCL Dependents to Receive Appointment Letters in Mancherial tomorrow: Telangana DY CM

Hyderabad, June 12 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday announced that 335 legal heirs who recently qualified for compassionate and dependent appointments in the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will receive appointment letters at a special programme to be held in Mancherial on Saturday.

The Dy Chief Minsiter directed SCCL management to make all necessary arrangements for the event.

Addressing another long-pending issue concerning Singareni workers, Bhatti said the government is actively examining the decades-old unresolved problem of ‘Maruperlu’ (alias names) and is seeking expert legal opinion to arrive at a permanent and lawful solution within the framework of existing regulations.

Highlighting the welfare measures undertaken by the government since assuming office, the Deputy Chief Minister said a total of 2,657 posts have been filled in SCCL, including 555 direct recruitments and 2,102 compassionate appointments.

He said the recruitment process was shifted online to ensure transparency and eliminate disputes.

“The maximum age limit for compassionate appointments has been increased from 35 years to 40 years, benefiting more than 200 eligible candidates,” he said.

Bhatti said the government has introduced several welfare measures for Singareni employees. For the first time in the country, an accidental insurance cover of Rs 1.25 crore has been provided to around 40,000 SCCL employees.

In addition, through tie-ups with banks, permanent employees have been provided a free natural death insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh, while contract workers have been extended accidental insurance coverage of Rs 40 lakh, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government distributed the highest-ever profit-sharing bonus in Singareni’s history, disbursing Rs 1,500 crore over the last two years.

“Breaking previous practices, contract workers were also provided profit-sharing bonuses of Rs 5,000 each for 2023-24, which was enhanced to Rs 5,500 each for 2024-25,” he said.

To strengthen healthcare facilities, the government has initiated modernization of all SCCL area hospitals and established an advanced Cath Lab at Godavarikhani, he said.

According to Bhatti, SCCL spends more than Rs 300 crore annually on medical facilities for employees, their parents and dependent children.

The Deputy Chief Minister also assured employees that the government is implementing a multi-pronged expansion strategy to secure new coal blocks and create additional employment opportunities for youth.

He said special efforts were made to expedite statutory clearances and commence coal production at the Naini coal block in Odisha.

While outlining plans to expand Singareni’s operations beyond Telangana, Bhatti stressed the need for enhanced production and productivity to ensure the company’s long-term competitiveness.

“To survive and grow in an increasingly competitive market, Singareni must continuously improve its performance. Every employee should contribute towards achieving this common goal,” he added.
