120 SIP Abacus Alumni Scoring Over 90% in SSC, Intermediate Exams Felicitated in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 15 (TNT): As many as 120 SIP Abacus alumni who secured over 90 per cent marks in the SSC and Intermediate examinations were felicitated at the SIP Abacus Achievers Summit held at TGSRTC Kalabhavan, Bagh Lingampally, here on Sunday.

The summit was inaugurated by SIP Abacus National Manager Uma Swaminathan in the presence of Telangana State Head Bharath, students, parents and faculty members.

The students honoured at the event included several Grand Master Module finishers who had undergone advanced Mental Math and Abacus training during their formative years.

Speaking on the occasion, many of the students attributed their academic success to the concentration, memory, confidence and learning skills developed through Mental Math and Abacus training.

According to the organisers, the programme helped students overcome the fear of mathematics at a young age while improving concentration, memory, visualisation skills, learning agility and self-confidence through systematic brain training.

Several participants demonstrated advanced mental arithmetic skills, earning recognition as “human calculators” for their ability to perform complex calculations rapidly without the aid of calculators, paper or electronic devices.

Students also showcased their ability to carry out mental calculations while simultaneously participating in activities such as sports, dance and martial arts, demonstrating concentration and multitasking abilities.

Addressing the gathering, Uma Swaminathan said Mental Math was emerging as a “mind sport” that helps develop cognitive abilities, confidence, communication skills and future-ready competencies among children.

She said growing concerns over excessive screen time were prompting parents to adopt programmes such as Mental Math and Mind Sports to enhance children’s cognitive development, problem-solving abilities and concentration.

“Just as athletics trains the body, Mental Math trains the brain,” she remarked.

Uma also said that more than 100 SIP alumni had secured admissions to various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) this year, reflecting the long-term benefits of disciplined learning and cognitive skill development.

The summit featured live demonstrations by current students and alumni, who impressed the audience with their speed and accuracy in solving complex arithmetic problems mentally.

SIP Abacus, a children’s skill development organisation and six-time Limca Book of Records holder, has trained more than one million children across India over the past two decades through programmes focused on concentration, memory, visualisation, analytical thinking and learning agility.
