Yokohama India launches GEOLANDAR X-CV tyre range for crossover SUVs
Visakhapatnam, Aug 12 (TNT): Yokohama India on Wednesday launched its GEOLANDAR X-CV range of tyres for crossover and premium SUVs, expanding the product line to wheel sizes starting from 16 inches.
In a release, the company said the GEOLANDAR X-CV range will have 32 planned sizes spanning 16 to 20-inch wheels, making it its most extensive dedicated tyre pattern for crossover and premium SUVs in India.
Originally developed for luxury SUVs with wheel sizes above 18 inches, the GEOLANDAR X-CV technology is now being introduced from 16 inches onwards to cater to a wider range of crossover SUVs.
The tyre incorporates Yokohama’s Micro Silica technology aimed at improving wet-road grip while reducing rolling resistance.
Its asymmetric tread design, with specially engineered inner and outer shoulder blocks, is designed to enhance wet-road traction, steering response and high-speed cornering stability.
Four wide circumferential grooves help evacuate water and improve wet braking performance and resistance to hydroplaning, while Yokohama’s 2D-3D Combination Sipes are designed to enhance wet traction and promote even wear.
The 5-Pitch Variation Technology helps reduce pattern noise for a quieter driving experience.
The GEOLANDAR X-CV features reinforced two-ply sidewall construction and a Full Nylon Cover to enhance durability and high-speed stability, the company said.
The new range is also EV-compatible, with its construction designed to accommodate the higher vehicle weight and instant torque characteristics of electric vehicles while maintaining durability and driving performance.
Nitin Mantri, Member of the Board and Senior Managing Officer & Co-COO of Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd and Chairman of Yokohama India Pvt Ltd, said India remained one of Yokohama’s strategic markets globally and the company would continue investing in manufacturing, technology and premium product development.
Harinder Singh, Managing Director and CEO, Yokohama India, said the growing crossover SUV segment was driving demand for tyres that offered a balance of safety, comfort, quietness and long-lasting performance.
The company said the GEOLANDAR X-CV would be available from August 2026 through the Yokohama Club Network and select authorised dealers in specifications catering to premium, mid-size and compact crossover SUVs.
As an introductory offer, customers will also be eligible for a no-cost EMI option on the newly launched range.
The product was unveiled in the presence of Nitin Mantri, Anil Gupta, Officer, Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd, COO of ATC Tires Pvt Ltd and Vice Chairman of Yokohama India, and Harinder Singh.
Yokohama India said its manufacturing operations continued to focus on sustainability through greater localisation, energy-efficient production processes and responsible resource utilisation.
