VD Satheesan to Take Oath as Kerala Chief Minister on Monday
Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 (TNT): V. D. Satheesan on Sunday announced his ministerial team ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala scheduled to be held on Monday at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled for 10 am, will mark the UDF’s return to power in the state after a decade. Large-scale arrangements are underway for the event, which is expected to be attended by senior political leaders, dignitaries and party workers.
Speaking to reporters, Satheesan said the Cabinet list had been finalised after discussions among alliance leaders while ensuring social and regional balance in ministerial representation.
Senior Congress leaders Ramesh Chennithala, K. Muraleedharan and Sunny Joseph will be inducted into the Cabinet.
Satheesan said several deserving leaders could not be accommodated despite the Congress securing 63 seats in the Assembly elections, which he described as one of the party’s biggest victories in Kerala.
“There are many deserving leaders both within and outside the list. But a party like the Congress has to consider social balance, regional representation and several other factors while taking such decisions,” he said.
The new government will comprise Satheesan and a 20-member Council of Ministers.
Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
