Union Minister Chouhand asks states to meet farm targets, ensure time-bound implementation

Hyderabad, Sept 18 (TNT): Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday directed southern states to meet their agricultural targets and commitments within stipulated timelines, stressing that decisions taken at the Regional Agriculture Conference must translate into concrete action and measurable outcomes.

Addressing the concluding session of the Regional Agriculture Conference for Southern States here, Chouhan said states must act on the actionable points identified during the day-long deliberations and fulfil the commitments made at the conference.

“The Centre and the states are one agriculture team. Our scientists, our farmers, officers of the Central and state governments, all together form one agriculture team. We must work together,” he said.

The Union Minister said there was no need to repeatedly discuss the same issues if decisions had already been taken, but stressed that implementation was essential.

If a state had committed to completing Farmer ID generation by December, it must meet the deadline, he said.

He said his objective was not to create a commotion but to bring about a change in the agriculture sector. “We will change the face of agriculture,” added .
