Union Defence Minister Rajnath lays foundation stone for Rs 15,803 Cr AMCA Project in AP
Sri Sathya Sai (Andhra Pradesh), May 15 (TNT): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project at Puttaparthi in district on Friday.
Spread over 650 acres, the project involves an estimated investment of ₹15,803 crore.
The project will be jointly established by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and DRDO.
Minister for IT Nara Lokesh also attended the Bhoomi Pooja ceremony.
 It is India’s first indigenous fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft programme.
The proposed facility will focus on developing advanced fighter aircraft equipped with stealth technology, twin-engine supercruise capability and cutting-edge avionics systems.
The project will also include advanced testing infrastructure.
The AMCA facility is expected to generate employment for around 7,500 people directly. In addition, ancillary industries linked to the project are likely to attract investments worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore.
