Two Transgender Persons Arrested for Killing Sanitation Worker in Kakinada
Kakinada, Aug 14 (TNT): Kakinada Three Town police have arrested two transgender persons in connection with the murder of a 41-year-old sanitation worker, who succumbed to injuries at the Government General Hospital on August 6.
The victim, Raju Siva, a private sanitation worker at a hospital, was found with severe injuries at Jyothula Colony in Thotammavari Veedhi of Sambamurthy Nagar area on August 3.
He was admitted to the Government General Hospital, where he died three days later. Police subsequently altered the case to murder.
According to police, Siva used to accompany transgender persons while seeking alms, though he was not a transgender person himself.
On the day of the incident, he reportedly had an argument with them over the sharing of money and demanded a higher share, which allegedly led to the attack.
Police said the accused Jessie and Puppie allegedly assaulted Siva with a boulder and a stick, causing severe injuries. The two were arrested near the Port Railway Station surroundings on Friday.
Kakinada SP Bindu Madhav had directed the formation of special investigation teams to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder.
The investigation was conducted by Three Town Inspector KVS Satyanarayana under the supervision of Additional SP Mahanti Kishore Kumar.
The SP appreciated Inspector Satyanarayana, SI Sagar Babu, Head Constables P Paul and A Sathish, and Constables T Muraliraju and K Srinivas for their efforts in solving the case.
