TTD removes 259 Fake Websites, Warns Devotees Against Online Booking Frauds

Tirumala, Aug 14 (TNT): The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Friday said it has identified and removed 259 fake websites operating in its name over the past two years and cautioned devotees against fraudulent online platforms offering fake bookings for Srivari Darshan, Arjitha Sevas and accommodation.

In a release, TTD said fraudsters were using its name, logo, images and trademarks through fake websites, WhatsApp accounts and social media pages to attract devotees and collect money by promising Darshan, Seva and accommodation bookings.

Several complaints have been received in this regard, it said.

The temple body urged devotees to make all bookings related to Darshan, Sevas and accommodation only through the official TTD website or mobile application and not to trust unauthorised links circulated through WhatsApp, social media or other platforms.

TTD said it has stepped up surveillance in coordination with its IT and Vigilance wings, Cyber Crime Police and other concerned departments to identify and act against fraudulent digital platforms.

Cases have also been registered against several persons associated with the fake websites, TTD said, adding that legal action would be initiated under copyright, trademark and cyber laws against individuals and organisations misusing its name, logo and intellectual property.

The temple body advised devotees not to transfer money to unknown persons in the name of bookings and to verify the authenticity of websites and social media accounts before making payments.

TTD reiterated its appeal to devotees to remain vigilant and exercise caution to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud through fake websites and WhatsApp messages.
