Toyota Kirloskar Motor Launches Mobile Computer Education Programme in Surat

Surat, Oct. 16 (TNT): Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in collaboration with the Surat District Panchayat, on Friday launched ‘Toyota-E-Kaksha’, a mobile computer education programme aimed at promoting digital literacy among students of government schools in the district.

The programme was launched by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi in the presence of Surat District Development Officer Devendra Prakash Meena and senior TKM officials.

Under the initiative, TKM will provide a mobile computer education bus equipped with 21 computers, internet connectivity, educational software and interactive digital learning tools.

The bus will travel to government schools across the district to provide students with hands-on computer education.

The initiative is expected to benefit 1,000 students annually across 50 government schools in Surat district, providing them with foundational digital skills and improving access to technology-based learning.

The programme follows a memorandum of understanding signed between TKM and the Surat District Panchayat on March 11, 2026.

Speaking at the launch, Sanghavi said digital literacy was essential for children’s future and stressed the need to provide students in rural and urban areas with equal opportunities to learn.

He appreciated the partnership between the district panchayat and TKM in expanding access to computer education in government schools.

Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, TKM, said the initiative aimed to ensure that students’ access to technology was not limited by their school or geographical location.

He said the mobile classroom would help students develop digital skills and prepare for future opportunities.

TKM said it intends to develop Toyota-E-Kaksha as a sustainable, government-partnered model for digital education that could be replicated in other districts.

Since 2001, the company has undertaken community development initiatives in education, environmental protection, road safety, skill development, health, hygiene and disaster management, in partnership with government agencies and civil society organisations.
