TN CM Vijay Meets AP CM Naidu, Seeks Additional Drinking Water for Chennai
Vijay, who was in Vijayawada to participate in Vijayawada Utsav, paid a courtesy visit to Naidu at the Chief Minister’s camp office.
Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh welcomed him.
During discussions with officials, Naidu explained the importance of the proposed Godavari–Cauvery river-linking project, describing river interlinking as a long-term solution to drought.
Responding to Vijay’s request for additional water to Chennai, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh remained committed to meeting the city’s drinking water needs despite reduced Krishna river inflows due to the impact of El Niño and the resulting water scarcity this year.
He said Andhra Pradesh had already released 4.08 TMC of water to Chennai and that the government would consider releasing additional supplies based on water availability and requirements.
