Tirupati: 417 Patients Selected for Free Surgeries Under SVIMS-TTD Pranadanam Scheme
Tirupati, Aug. 6 (TNT): The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) has selected 417 economically weaker patients for free treatment under the Sri Venkateswara Pranadanam Scheme, implemented with financial support from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The selection was made at a meeting of the Pranadanam Scheme Selection Committee held at SVIMS on Thursday under the chairmanship of SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.V. Kumar.
The committee reviewed applications and verified the eligibility of beneficiaries before approving free surgeries for 417 patients belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families holding rice ration cards.
Among the selected beneficiaries, 130 patients were from the Nephrology department, followed by 63 in Gastroenterology, 56 in Neurosurgery, 43 in Neurology, 27 each in Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery, 22 in Gynaecology, 12 each in Cardiology and Medical Oncology, 11 in General Medicine, four in Radiation Oncology, three each in ENT and Surgical Oncology, two in Urology, and one each in Radiology and Emergency Medicine.
The meeting was attended by Sri Padmavathi Children’s Heart Centre Director Dr. Srinath Reddy, SVIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Ram, Resident Medical Officer Dr. Koti Reddy, BIRRD Hospital RMO Dr. Ramamurthy, Ruia Hospital Superintendent Dr. Subbalakshmi, Maternity Hospital Superintendent Dr. Srinivasulu, heads of departments and other officials.
The selected beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the TTD for extending financial assistance for life-saving surgeries under the Pranadanam Scheme.
SVIMS appealed to individual donors, philanthropists and charitable organisations to contribute to the TTD Pranadanam Scheme so that more economically disadvantaged patients could benefit from the initiative.
