Telangana to Set Up Dedicated Employees Health Care Trust for Govt Staff, Pensioners

Hyderabad, Jun 1 (TNT): In a major initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare services for government employees, the Telangana Government will constitute a dedicated Employees Health Care Trust within the next few days, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao announced on Monday.

The Trust will implement the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) and provide healthcare services to government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members across the state.

Ramakrishna Rao made the announcement while chairing a meeting with members of the Joint Staff Council and representatives of various employees’ associations at the State Secretariat to discuss measures for streamlining and strengthening healthcare services.

He said the operational guidelines for the formation and functioning of the Trust would be finalised after incorporating suggestions and recommendations received from employees’ associations.

The Chief Secretary said the State Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, was committed to ensuring accessible, quality and hassle-free healthcare services for serving employees, pensioners and their dependent family members.

He noted that the proposed Trust would serve as a robust institutional mechanism for delivering healthcare benefits in an efficient and transparent manner.

Ramakrishna Rao said a separate bank account would be opened exclusively for the Trust and that it would be operated with equal financial contributions from the government and employees.

He added that the Trust would function autonomously and have the authority to take decisions independently in the interests of beneficiaries.

Assuring employee representatives that their welfare remained a priority for the government, he said all necessary measures were being taken to establish a sustainable and responsive healthcare system.

Suggestions put forward by employees’ organisations would be carefully examined while finalising the Trust’s operational framework, he added.

Representatives of various employees’ associations welcomed the initiative and offered suggestions relating to governance, financial management, service delivery and grievance redressal mechanisms to ensure the effective functioning of the proposed body.

The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretaries Benhur Mahesh Ekka and Dana Kishore, Principal Secretaries Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Christina Zongthu and Yogita Rana, Revenue Secretary Lokesh Kumar, and leaders of various employees’ organisations, including TGOA President Eluri Srinivasa Rao, TNGO President M. Jagadeeshwar, TGE JAC Chairman Lachchireddy, Deputy Collectors’ Association representatives K. Rama Krishna and S. Ramulu, Tahsildars’ Association President Ramesh Paka, TPUS President Pentaiah and STF President D. Saidulu.

The proposed Employees Health Care Trust is expected to provide a structured, transparent and accountable framework for delivering healthcare benefits to lakhs of serving and retired government employees and their families across Telangana.
