Telangana to Introduce Unified Monitoring System for Schools, Welfare Hostels
Hyderabad, Sept 28 (TNT): The Telangana government will bring schools and residential welfare institutions across the State under a Unified Hostel Welfare Management System within a fortnight to strengthen monitoring of attendance, infrastructure, food quality, sanitation and student welfare.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued the directions during a video conference with District Collectors on Monday, reviewing the functioning of educational institutions, particularly residential welfare schools and primary schools.
The proposed system will track teacher and student attendance, infrastructure and facilities, food quality and dietary arrangements, sanitation, hygiene, maintenance of premises and other student welfare measures.
It is expected to help officials identify deficiencies and initiate corrective action promptly.
The Chief Secretary directed Collectors to establish a structured mechanism for periodic inspections of schools and residential institutions, assigning senior officers to assess their functioning and ensure that shortcomings are addressed through follow-up action.
He also instructed Collectors to ensure that all students receive student kits and a second pair of uniforms by Dasara.
Successful initiatives, infrastructure improvements and innovative practices in educational and residential institutions should be highlighted through social and other media platforms to encourage the sharing of good practices across districts, he said.
Jaju informed the officials that diet and cosmetic charges, as well as rental charges for institutions operating in private buildings, were being paid promptly.
Special Chief Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh said a dashboard was being operationalised to capture teacher and student attendance and facilitate closer monitoring of residential welfare institutions.
Principal Secretary, Education, Yogita Rana; Principal Secretary, Finance, Sandeep Sultania; and secretaries of the various residential welfare departments attended the meeting.
