Telangana targets Rs 15,000 crore tourism investments, three lakh jobs

Hyderabad, Oct 25 (TNT): Telangana is seeking to strengthen economic ties with South Korea by attracting investments in electronics, semiconductors, electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing, life sciences and renewable energy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Sunday.
Addressing the K-Harmony Festa – Korea Culture Day 2026 at Shilpakala Vedika here as the chief guest, Bhatti said the state government was keen to expand partnerships with Korean companies, focusing on job creation, technology transfer and skill development among youth.
He said the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025–2030 aimed to attract investments of Rs 15,000 crore and create three lakh additional employment opportunities over five years.
The government had also drawn up an action plan to develop 27 tourist destinations, offering opportunities for Korean investors in tourism infrastructure, hospitality, film tourism, wellness tourism and cultural experiences, he said.
Recalling Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to South Korea in August 2024, Bhatti said the investment discussions held during the visit had laid the foundation for economic cooperation between the two sides.
The government would work to deepen the partnership and expand investment and employment opportunities, he added.
Observing that Telangana had much to learn from South Korea’s economic transformation, he said sustained investment in education, skill development, infrastructure and technology had played a crucial role in the country’s development.
He called for stronger cooperation among industries, universities, research institutions, start-ups and small enterprises to promote innovation and economic growth.
Highlighting the cultural links between India and South Korea, Bhatti said the festival would strengthen friendship between the people of the two countries through Korean music, films, arts and traditions.
He noted that Korean cultural content had attracted young audiences worldwide, demonstrating the role of cultural influence in enhancing a country’s international recognition.
Referring to similarities in family values, education, traditions and respect for elders, he cited the legend of Queen Heo Hwang-ok, believed to have travelled to Korea from ancient India, as a symbol of historical ties between the two countries.
Bhatti highlighted Telangana’s cultural and tourism attractions, including Charminar, Golconda Fort, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ramappa Temple and the Buddhist heritage centre at Buddhavanam near Nagarjuna Sagar.
Inviting Korean tourists to Telangana, he encouraged young people from both regions to explore opportunities in education, research, employment and creative industries.
He said lasting international relations were built not only through investments and trade agreements but also through mutual affection and understanding.
“Hyderabad is like a second home for our Korean friends,” he added.
Republic of Korea Ambassador to India Lee Seung-ho welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister to the event.
