Telangana Raises Upper Age Limit for Uniformed Services Recruitment by Two Years
Hyderabad, Aug 14 (TNT): The Telangana government has further raised the upper age limit by two years for direct recruitment to various uniformed services in the state, providing additional relief to unemployed youth.
The two-year relaxation will be in addition to the five-year age relaxation already granted through an earlier government order issued on May 18, 2026, according to GO Ms.No.122 released by the General Administration (Services-A) Department here on Friday.
The additional relaxation applies to direct recruitment to uniformed services in the Police, Fire, Prisons, Special Protection Force (SPF), Excise, Transport and Forest departments, the GO stated.
The government said it took the decision after receiving representations from unemployed youth seeking relaxation in the upper age limit to enable more candidates to participate in the recruitment process.
The notification issued under Article 309 of the Constitution states that the upper age limit prescribed under the relevant special or ad-hoc rules for direct recruitment will be raised by two additional years, over and above the five years already granted under G.O.Ms.No.87 dated May 18, 2026.
