Telangana police appeals to Dhanwantari Foundation Intl Depositors to submit iInvestment Details for recovery process

Hyderabad, June 10 (TNT): Hyderabad City Police have urged all investors of Dhanwantari Foundation International (DFI) who have not yet submitted their deposit details to the Central Crime Station (CCS) to do so immediately to facilitate the recovery and distribution of funds.

A case was registered at CCS, Hyderabad, on  December 23, 2023, under Sections 406 and 420 read with 34 of the IPC and Section 5 of the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments (TGPDFE) Act, following a complaint by Susrala Narsimha Murthy, said  Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, Hyderabad, S. Chaitanya Kumar, in a release here on Wednesday.

According to police, DFI represented by its director Dr. P. Kamalakar Sharma and others, allegedly collected around Rs 516 crore from more than 2,000 investors by promising attractive returns within a specified period, primarily targeting senior citizens and members of the Brahmin community.

During the investigation, CCS arrested the prime accused and traced properties acquired by DFI and its associated companies, including nearly 450 acres of land in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and about 3,000 square yards of commercial space in Hyderabad.

The investigating agency obtained eight Government Orders for ad-interim attachment of the identified properties. Subsequently, the Sessions Court confirmed the attachments by making them absolute.

The Telangana High Court also dismissed criminal appeals filed by DFI challenging the attachment orders.

Police said depositors who have not yet furnished their investment details should submit them to CCS at the earliest.

The details are required for preparation of the list of depositors under Section 6(4) of the TGPDFE Act, which will facilitate equitable distribution of sale proceeds following the auction of the attached properties, the police added.
