Addressing the NAREDCO Telangana Property Show at HITEX here, he said works worth nearly Rs 55,000 crore had already entered the design and tendering stages, while several projects were at different stages of implementation.

He said Rs 52,706 crore had been earmarked for infrastructure development through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, Hyderabad Growth Corridor, Metro Rail and other agencies. Another Rs 15,849 crore had been allocated to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Rs 4,000 crore to GHMC, Rs 2,500 crore to Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation and Rs 2,163 crore to Cyberabad Municipal Corporation.

An additional Rs 500 crore had been allocated for road development through the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government was preparing to launch the first phase of the Musi rejuvenation project at an estimated cost of Rs 7,500 crore.

The project aimed to transform the polluted river into a clean waterway and develop it as a major urban asset.

Approvals had been given for sewage treatment plants at 21 major nalas to prevent untreated sewage from entering the Musi, and the tendering process had begun.

The government was also considering increasing the number of such plants to 38, he said.

Bhatti said Bharat Future City was planned across nearly 30,000 acres, with around 15,000 acres earmarked for greenery and open spaces. Along with Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad, it would emerge as another growth centre, he added.

The government had also prepared plans to invest about Rs 93,000 crore in road infrastructure across Telangana, including four-lane roads and flyovers, to improve connectivity between rural and urban areas.

Referring to environmental initiatives, he said the government had introduced the HILT policy to reduce pollution, including phased relocation of industries within the Outer Ring Road limits. It was also promoting electric buses and electric vehicles.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the real estate and construction sectors were important contributors to the State’s economic growth and described those associated with them as partners in development.

He said Hyderabad’s infrastructure, educational institutions and skilled workforce had helped it attract investments and people from across the country.

He said the government was simultaneously implementing welfare programmes, including construction of eight lakh Indiramma houses with assistance of Rs 5 lakh each, distribution of fine rice to 1.06 crore families, free electricity up to 200 units for 53 lakh families and healthcare coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh under Rajiv Aarogyasri for eligible families.

The government was also providing breakfast to 27 lakh students in government schools and extending financial assistance to farmers under Rythu Bharosa, he said.

Stressing the need for skilled manpower in the construction sector, Bhatti said the Young India Skills University had begun academic activities in Future City and 65 government ITIs were being upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres to impart industry-oriented training.

He urged real estate developers to focus on affordable housing for the poor and middle-income groups alongside premium residential projects and called upon the industry to partner with the government in the State’s development.
