Telangana Jagruthi Prez Kavitha Set to Launch New Party, Signals Shift in State

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (TNT):  Kalvakuntla Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruthi and former MP, is set to launch a new political party on Saturday.

The announcement marks her transition from a cultural mobiliser to an independent political force.

The launch event will be held at the Professor Jayashankar Meeting Grounds near the Advaya Convention Center in Muneerabad, Medchal district.

According to organisers, Kavitha will unveil the party’s name and flag at 10:00 AM, followed by a keynote address outlining her political vision and future roadmap.

Ahead of the launch, she is scheduled to pay tributes at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial (Gun Park) in Hyderabad, a move seen by observers as an attempt to reconnect with the legacy of the Telangana statehood movement and reinforce regional sentiment.

A large turnout is expected, with nearly 50,000 supporters from across 33 districts likely to attend.

The venue, spread over 20 acres, has been prepared extensively, underscoring the significance of the event.

Political analysts note that the formation of a new party comes at a time when Telangana’s political environment is witnessing increased competition and shifting alignments among key players such as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Indian National Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).

Kavitha’s move is expected to test the strength of regional identity politics, particularly among youth and women segments she has actively engaged through Telangana Jagruthi.

It may also influence vote shares in key constituencies, depending on the party’s positioning and potential alliances.

While details regarding the party’s ideology and electoral strategy remain awaited, her address is expected to emphasise Telangana’s rights, social justice, and political self-representation.

Having founded Telangana Jagruthi during the statehood agitation, Kavitha has remained a prominent public figure over the past two decades.

The launch of a new party marks her most direct political entry as an independent contender.
