Hyderabad, Apr 16 (TNT): Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, on Thursday invited American companies to invest in the state, highlighting its emergence as a leading hub for aerospace, defence, and space sectors.
The Minister made the pitch during a meeting with a delegation from the United States National War College at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
Sridhar Babu described Telangana as a “hub of opportunities” across key sectors including drones, counter-drone systems, aerospace components, defence electronics, cybersecurity, space technology, AI in defence, and satellite systems.
He said the state government is pursuing a strategic plan to position Telangana as a global leader in these domains.
Highlighting the state’s industrial ecosystem, he noted that products ranging from rockets and advanced drones to aircraft components and satellites are gaining global recognition under the “Made in Telangana” brand.
The Minister said Telangana is registering over 30% annual growth in aerospace, defence, and space sectors, with exports witnessing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 103% between 2024 and 2026.
He pointed out that global aerospace majors such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, Safran and Dassault Aviation, along with Indian public sector organisations like Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, have a strong presence in the state.
The Minister highlighted the presence of leading global firms such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, Safran and Dassault Aviation, alongside Indian public sector players including Defence Research and Development Organisation, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
He noted that over 1,500 MSMEs in precision engineering, drones, and defence electronics are supporting the ecosystem, strengthening Telangana’s position in global supply chains.
Emphasising ease of doing business, Sridhar Babu said approvals are being granted within 15–30 days through the TS-iPASS system, while workforce readiness is being addressed through skill development initiatives such as the Young India Skill University.
He added that Hyderabad has been ranked the world’s most cost-effective aerospace city in Financial Times fDi rankings, while Telangana has received the “Best State for Aerospace” award from the Centre for five consecutive years.
The Minister invited US companies to partner with Telangana in investments, technology collaboration, research, and manufacturing.
Responding to the pitch, US State Department Minister Counsellor Paul Narain said there is strong interest in collaborating with progressive states like Telangana and indicated that steps would be taken to deepen bilateral engagement in the near future.
