Telangana Govt estalishes TG-TMARS for Road Safety
Hyderabad, Sept 24 (TNT): The Telangana government has established the Telangana Traffic Management, Road and Rail Safety Bureau (TG-TMARS) to strengthen traffic management and road safety and provide emergency medical support to accident victims.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued GO-135 on Thursday.
The bureau will function under the State Road Safety Council headed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Headquartered in Hyderabad, TG-TMARS will function under an officer of the rank of Additional DGP or IGP and oversee traffic management across more than 32,000 km of state roads and the movement of over 1.8 crore vehicles daily.
It will also oversee Metro Rail and railway safety.
A Road Accident Response Officer will be designated at every police station to ensure prompt shifting of accident victims to hospitals during the golden hour.
Highway patrol units equipped with speed detectors and advanced cameras will also operate on the ORR and highways.
The government has also created a dedicated Traffic Management Fund, with 40 per cent of traffic fine revenue allocated to it for staff training, technology, patrol vehicles and emergency road repairs.
