Telangana Governor, CM Pay Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on Birth Anniversary

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, recalling his ideals of truth, non-violence, peace and compassion.

The Governor also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

The Governor said Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence and compassion continued to inspire humanity, while Shastri’s life remained a symbol of simplicity, integrity and selfless service.

He called upon people to uphold the ideals of both leaders by promoting peace, unity, patriotism and service to the nation and working towards building a developed and compassionate India.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described Mahatma Gandhi as a great soul who taught humanity the values of truth, peace and compassion.

Paying rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, he recalled Gandhi’s leadership of India’s freedom struggle through the path of non-violence.

The Chief Minister said Gandhi laid a strong foundation for self-reliance, Gram Swaraj (village self-rule) and social equality through his ideals and services to the country.

Stating that the people’s government was committed to Gandhi’s principles, Revanth Reddy said its primary objective was to steer Telangana towards peace, social justice, equality and development by following the path of truth and non-violence.

Practising Gandhi’s ideals in everyday life would be a true tribute to the great leader, he added.
