Telangana Governor Calls Yoga a Timeless Bridge Between Body, Mind and Soul

Hyderabad, June 21 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Sunday described yoga as a timeless gift of India to humanity and a powerful instrument for holistic well-being, saying the ancient discipline nurtures physical vitality, mental resilience and spiritual balance.

The Governor participated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Lok Bhavan, where senior officials, including Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Joint Secretary Shashikiran Komandur, Deputy Secretary G. Pallavi, and staff members took part in the programme.

Representatives of The Art of Living Foundation guided participants through various yoga practices and asanas.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that in an era marked by fast-paced lifestyles and growing stress, yoga offers a pathway to inner peace, self-discipline and positive energy.

Describing yoga as a symbol of India’s enduring wisdom, he noted that it has evolved into a global movement promoting health, harmony and human well-being.

Shukla praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in securing worldwide recognition for the International Day of Yoga, which has encouraged millions across the globe to adopt healthier lifestyles.

“Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is a celebration of the profound connection between the body, mind and soul. It is India’s ancient heritage that continues to illuminate the world with the message of health, balance and universal well-being,” he said.

Urging citizens to make yoga a part of their daily lives, the Governor called upon people to move beyond observing it as an annual event and embrace it as a lifelong practice.

He further said that the vision of a healthy, prosperous and self-reliant India can be realised only when citizens are physically fit, mentally strong and emotionally balanced.

Appreciating the efforts of The Art of Living, Shukla said the organisation has been making significant contributions towards building a stress-free and violence-free society while fostering a culture of peace and well-being.
