Telangana Emerging as Key Logistics Hub Through Infrastructure, Policy Push: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad, June 12 (TNT): Telangana is fast emerging as one of India’s most promising logistics destinations, backed by strategic infrastructure investments, progressive policies and strong multimodal connectivity, State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said on Friday.

Addressing the International Conference on Shipping and Logistics 2026 (ICSL 2026), organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), the minister said logistics had become a critical driver of economic growth and global competitiveness, with resilience, speed and reliability now as important as efficiency.

Highlighting Telangana’s economic performance, he said the state contributes nearly five per cent to India’s GDP, ranks seventh among merchandise-exporting states and recorded exports worth over ₹1.61 lakh crore in 2024-25. Telangana was also ranked eighth nationally and second among landlocked states in the Export Preparedness Index 2024.

Sridhar Babu said the state had successfully converted its inland location into a strategic advantage through strong road, rail and air connectivity, Logistics Policy 2.0, the proposed Mega Multimodal Logistics Park at Manoharabad and expanding air cargo infrastructure.

Inviting investors to partner with the state, he said Telangana was committed to building a future-ready logistics ecosystem capable of supporting industry growth and enhancing market access.

FTCCI President Ravi Kumar said Hyderabad was well positioned to emerge as India’s premier hub-and-spoke logistics destination, aided by the upcoming logistics park, expanding industrial base and integrated transport infrastructure.

The conference brought together policymakers, logistics companies, exporters, technology providers, investors and industry experts to discuss cargo infrastructure, multimodal transport, artificial intelligence-driven logistics, digital supply chains and workforce development.

Participants stressed the need for greater investment in logistics infrastructure, digitalisation, warehousing, e-commerce fulfilment, electric vehicle-based freight movement and skill development to strengthen India’s competitiveness in global supply chains.

The conference concluded with a call for closer collaboration between government, industry, technology providers and academia to accelerate India’s emergence as a global logistics powerhouse.
