Telangana Dy CM launches common pass for RTC, Metro services
Hyderabad, Oct 2 (TNT) : Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday launched the TSRTC–Metro Rail Common Pass at Praja Bhavan here, enabling commuters to use a single pass across both transport systems.
The facility offers one-day and monthly passes.
The one-day pass costs Rs 400, comprising Rs 300 for Metro Rail and Rs 100 for TGSRTC services.
The monthly pass, valid for 30 calendar days, is priced at Rs 8,500, including Rs 7,000 for Metro Rail and Rs 1,500 for TGSRTC.
A refundable security deposit of Rs 100 will be collected when the card is issued for the first time. The ‘Mee Ticket’ app was also launched on the occasion.
Bhatti said he and other state ministers had purchased one-day pass.
The ministers would travel by Metro from Begumpet station at 11 am on Saturday and subsequently take an RTC bus to experience the facility and review its functioning, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government planned to expand the Hyderabad Metro Rail network by 122 km under Phase II, at an estimated cost of Rs 38,000 crore.The proposed expansion would connect the Old City, the airport, Patancheru and Hayathnagar.
To curb air pollution, 550 electric buses had been introduced in Hyderabad, with another 2,200 planned. The government had also sanctioned Rs 200 crore to support the conversion of diesel auto-rickshaws into electric vehicles, he said.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Ministers Vivek Venkataswamy and Azharuddin, Government Whip and MLC Addanki Dayakar, Mahender Reddy, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Transport Department Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj and other officials attended the programme.
