Hyderabad, Apr 29 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy,  inaugurated the Basic Induction Training Programme for Delhi Prisons personnel at the State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA) in Chanchalguda near here on Wednesday.

The DGP was received by Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, along with senior officials and faculty members of SICA.

The initiative marks a significant step in inter-state collaboration in correctional administration, with a total of 381 personnel from Delhi Prisons slated to undergo training in phases during 2026.

The first batch comprises 62 trainees, including Assistant Superintendents, matrons, warders, and one participant from Telangana Prisons.

An additional trainee from Andaman & Nicobar Islands is also expected to join.

The nine-month induction programme has been designed to enhance professional skills, discipline, and a humane approach among prison personnel.

Physical training, parade drills, yoga and meditation also form part of the curriculum.

Addressing the trainees, Shivadhar Reddy underscored that prison service is not limited to custodial duties but plays a crucial role in reforming and reintegrating inmates into society.

He urged participants to uphold professionalism, integrity and discipline, while treating inmates with dignity.

Speaking on the occasion, Soumya Mishra highlighted the importance of institutional training and inter-state cooperation in strengthening correctional systems.

She noted that the deputation of a large number of personnel from Delhi reflects confidence in SICA’s training standards and expertise.

Officials said SICA’s modern infrastructure—including classrooms, hostel facilities, training grounds, and a library will support the comprehensive training programme.
