Telangana CM welcomes SC verdict on Miyapur lands, says Govt saved assets worth Rs 1.5 lakh Cr
New Delhi, Oct 30 (TNT): Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict on the Miyapur land dispute, Telangana chief Minsiter A Revanth Reddy on Friday said claimed it had protected government land valued at around Rs 50,000 crore from alleged encroachment during the previous BRS regime.
Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister accused former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, his family members and associates of attempting to grab valuable government lands in Hyderabad and other parts of the State.
He alleged that kickbacks and costly cars were given to those involved in the Miyapur land deal.
Revanth Reddy said the State government had presented a strong case before the court and, following the favourable verdict, officials had been directed to take steps to resume the land.
He said the government was considering monetising the valuable land and utilising the proceeds for irrigation, education and healthcare projects.
The Cabinet would discuss the proposal and take a decision, while the Cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation would examine the matter, he added.
Claiming that the government had protected land worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore from illegal occupation since 2023, the Chief Minister cited the cases involving 143 acres at Manchirevula, IMG lands, and government properties at Gachibowli and Mamidipally.
He alleged that BRS leaders had attempted to encroach upon these properties and said the government had secured them through legal action.
He also referred to the Gurramguda forest land dispute, saying the Supreme Court had upheld the Forest Department’s ownership of the land.
In Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, the government had secured 400 acres of forest land which, he alleged, had been handed over to an MLA during the previous regime.
The Chief Minister further accused BRS leaders of obstructing surveys of allegedly encroached lands and approaching courts to obtain stay orders.
He questioned why the previous government had not taken possession of lands, including those involving Padmalaya Studios and Lanco, despite filing cases over them during the undivided Andhra Pradesh period.
Demanding a debate in the Assembly on alleged land encroachments, Revanth Reddy questioned the BRS for not responding to the Supreme Court verdict on Miyapur.
He alleged that former ministers and other leaders had entered into arrangements with individuals against whom they had earlier pursued legal cases.
The Chief Minister also alleged that former Chief Minister and BRS Chief KCR was exploiting a dispute between two villages and said the government was prepared to remove illegal structures to construct the Srikanta Chary Martyrs Memorial.
He urged KCR and BRS working president K T Rama Rao to stop what he described as attempts to grab government land.
