Telangana CM proposes AI-Driven Traffic Signal Integration in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, July 1 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday proposed integrating Hyderabad’s traffic signal network with advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enable efficient traffic management, particularly during heavy rains and emergencies.
The proposal came during a meeting with Analog Founder and CEO Alex Kipman and MEIL (Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited) Managing Director P.V. Krishna Reddy at the Bodhi Pavilion in the MCR HRD Institute.
The company representatives briefed the Chief Minister on a Hyderabad traffic pilot project and demonstrated how Physical Intelligence—a combination of AI, sensors and robotics—could be deployed to address urban infrastructure challenges.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister suggested integrating traffic signals across the city and adopting AI-based systems to regulate traffic flow dynamically, particularly during rainfall and other disruptions.
The companies also presented their vision for “Next Generation Intelligent Infrastructure”, highlighting the role of Physical Intelligence in building safer, more efficient and responsive urban systems.
According to the presentation, the technology could enable real-time adjustment of traffic signals based on congestion, predictive detection and repair of water leaks, demand-based power management, and automatic clearance of traffic corridors for ambulances and fire services during emergencies.
The companies said the proposed solutions would help rapidly growing cities improve operational efficiency, strengthen public services and support data-driven infrastructure planning.
On the occasion, MEIL and Abu Dhabi-based Analog signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of the Chief Minister to strengthen technological cooperation and promote innovation-led infrastructure development through their proposed joint venture.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Advisor K. Ramakrishna Rao, and B. Ajith Reddy, CEO of Invest Telangana and Additional Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, were present.
