Telangana BJP to hold month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’: Party Prez Ramchander Rao

Hyderabad, Sept 11 (TNT): Telangana BJP will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 as part of a nationwide programme to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, state BJP president N Ramchander Rao said on Friday.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office here, Rao said Modi assumed office as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and had completed 25 years in public service, including 12.5 years as Chief Minister and 12.5 years as Prime Minister.

He said the campaign was being organised across the country on the directions of the BJP national leadership.

As September 17 is also observed as Telangana Liberation Day, the state BJP would launch the campaign in Hyderabad on the evening of September 17 with the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme, Rao said.

He appealed to people, particularly beneficiaries of Central government schemes, to light lamps at their homes as a mark of gratitude and to express their support for Modi’s governance.

Rao said the BJP’s activities extended beyond electoral politics and focused on promoting a spirit of service among party workers.

As part of the campaign, the party would organise blood donation camps, Swachh Bharat programmes, essay competitions, ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’, ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’ and ‘Sushasan Seva Samvad’, he said.

The birth anniversaries of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on September 25 and Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 would also be observed as part of the campaign, he added.

Rao said the Modi government’s initiatives had brought changes to the country’s economic and social landscape. He cited the Jan Dhan Yojana and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system as measures aimed at improving access to banking and welfare benefits.

He claimed that 80 crore poor people had been provided bank accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojana and that India accounted for 41 per cent of global UPI transactions.

Rao also highlighted the Vishwakarma Yojana for artisans and PM SVANidhi for street vendors in Telangana.

He said infrastructure development in highways, railways and airports had accelerated under the Modi government and that the achievements of the Prime Minister’s 25 years in public life would be taken to every doorstep under the slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.

Party state general secretaries Vemula Ashok and Veerender Goud, former MLA Guvvala Balraj, state vice-president Madhavi, Mahila Morcha state president Shilpa Reddy, state panelist Palnati Venkat Reddy and others attended the conference.
