Telangana, AP mutual fund assets rise to Rs 2.95 lakh crore: AMFI

Hyderabad, Sept 18 (TNT): Telangana and Andhra Pradesh together accounted for ₹2.95 lakh crore in mutual fund assets as of July 2026, with both states recording growth in assets under management and increasing adoption of systematic investment plans (SIPs), the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) said on Friday.

Telangana’s mutual fund AUM stood at ₹2,12,856 crore, up 19 per cent from July 2025, while Andhra Pradesh recorded AUM of ₹82,409 crore, a 23 per cent increase over the same period, the Assoication in a release here.

Telangana ranked eighth among States and Union Territories, accounting for around 2.5 per cent of India’s mutual fund assets, while Andhra Pradesh ranked 15th with close to one per cent of the country’s mutual fund assets.

Hyderabad remained the largest mutual fund centre in Telangana with an AUM of ₹1,84,261 crore, accounting for 87 per cent of the state’s total. Its AUM grew 18 per cent over July 2025, while the city had 54.44 lakh folios.

In Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam led with an AUM of ₹16,614 crore, followed by Vijayawada with ₹8,337 crore, indicating growing participation across multiple urban centres, AMFI said.

SIPs continued to account for a significant share of investments in both states.

Telangana’s SIP AUM stood at ₹47,975 crore, or 22 per cent of its total AUM, supported by 26.09 lakh SIP folios. while Andhra Pradesh recorded SIP AUM of ₹26,820 crore, accounting for 32 per cent of its total AUM, with 26.47 lakh SIP folios.

Telangana had over 19.60 lakh unique investors, with women accounting for 24.42 per cent, while Andhra Pradesh had 20.94 lakh unique investors, of whom 23.60 per cent were women.

The national average stood at 26.74 per cent.

AMFI Chief Executive Venkat N Chalasani said Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were witnessing meaningful growth in mutual fund participation, with Hyderabad accounting for a significant share of Telangana’s assets and multiple cities contributing to growth in Andhra Pradesh.

“The increasing adoption of SIPs is particularly encouraging, as it reflects a disciplined approach to investing. As participation deepens, investor awareness, informed decision-making and a long-term perspective will remain important,” he said.

AMFI said investor awareness, SIP-led participation, appropriate asset allocation and disciplined long-term investing remained important to strengthening financial resilience.
