Telangana ACB nabs three Govt officials, private persons in three bribery cases

Hyderabad, Oct. 15 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught three government officials and two private persons in three separate bribery cases involving alleged demands totalling Rs. 6.28 lakh, of which Rs. 3.78 lakh was recovered, ACB said in a release.

In the first case, Pandala Sandhaya Rakesh, Assistant Engineer of TGSPDCL’s Madannapet section in Hyderabad, was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs. 1.20 lakh from a complainant for approving online applications for sanctioning six new electricity meters in place of old missing meters.

The amount was recovered from his possession, the ACB said.

In the second case, Deputy Tahsildar Amanaganti Sandeep Kumar Reddy of Keesara mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district allegedly demanded Rs. 5 lakh and accepted a part payment of Rs. 2.50 lakh through a private person, Kavali Balakrishna.

The bribe was allegedly sought for processing the removal of agricultural properties belonging to the complainant’s mother and other family members from the prohibited list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act, 1908.

The ACB also named Village Revenue Officer Nannuri Vijay Kumar Reddy in the case, alleging that he instigated the private person to receive the bribe on the Deputy Tahsildar’s instructions.

The amount of Rs. 2.50 lakh was recovered from Balakrishna’s possession. The three accused were being produced before the court for judicial remand.

In the third case, Md. Abubakar, Tahsildar-cum-Joint Sub-Registrar of Vemulawada Rural in Rajanna Sircilla district, was caught while allegedly demanding and accepting Rs. 8,000 through a private person, Sankasala Anil Kumar, a Bhu Bharathi operator.

The bribe was allegedly sought to facilitate registration of a gift deed relating to agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s aunt in the name of the complainant’s father. The amount was recovered from the private person’s possession.

The ACB said the accused in the cases had allegedly misused their official positions to obtain undue advantage.

The cases are under investigation.

The Agency appealed to the public to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064 or WhatsApp number 9440446106. Complaints can also be made through the ACB’s social media platforms.
