Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau promotes destination weddings in Hyderabad, Surat, Pune
Hyderabad, Sept. 27 (TNT) : The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has concluded a three-city roadshow in Hyderabad, Surat and Pune to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for Indian weddings.
The roadshow brought together wedding planners, travel professionals and media representatives to showcase Sri Lanka’s wedding venues, hospitality services and cultural attractions.
The campaign highlighted the island’s tropical beaches, luxury resorts, heritage properties and scenic mountain destinations, including Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and the southern coast, as venues for weddings ranging from grand beachfront celebrations to intimate mountain ceremonies, the Bureau said in a release on Sunday.
The bureau also showcased arrangements for Indian wedding traditions, customised menus, décor, catering, entertainment, photography, transport and guest management, besides opportunities to combine wedding celebrations with holidays for family and friends.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Deputy Managing Director of SLTPB Chamila Jayarathne said India remained an important market for Sri Lanka and destination weddings offered an opportunity to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.
SLTPB Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam said the initiative aimed to increase awareness of Sri Lanka among Indian wedding planners and travel professionals by presenting the island as a destination that combines celebrations, cultural experiences and leisure travel.
The roadshows also featured “The Heritage of Kandyan”, a cultural presentation showcasing Sri Lanka’s traditional dance forms through performances by male and female dancers in traditional costumes.
Through the initiative, Sri Lanka Tourism aims to strengthen industry partnerships and promote the island as a destination for weddings and associated holiday experiences, including cultural excursions, wildlife safaris, wellness activities, shopping and culinary tourism.
